****My starting resolution is about 2000 pixels. I will lower this to about 1600 pixels AFTER I get all of the finer details done. For the final image, I lower the resolution once more to 1200 pixels. ****

1.First I placed perspective lines over a gradient using the line tool. The gradient works best if it corresponds to whatever color you want the lighting of your environment to be. If I wanted a vibrant color scheme, I might go with more orange and reds than the grey that I used.

2. On a new layer block in your shapes. For this I used the default chalk brush. Also begin putting in shadows with a semi transparent black brush. You may have to change the opacity a few times depending on how dark or light your shadows are in some spots.

3. I placed a single pavement texture over the entire piece to give it a bit of texture. I also put a texture beneath the archways, using the tweak tool to make it conform. Then I begin coloring on a new layer set to normal, but with opacity
lowered enough to see my perspective lines. I will raise the opacity back to 100% once everything I want colored is finished. For this piece, the only portion I colored was the train-the rest is the gradient underneath. I also begin to add highlights at this stage with a very soft brush.

4. Create a new layer between your perspective lines and your sketch. Here you will put in your background. I'm not paying much attention to the background, so some very simple shapes are adequate. I also do not want them completely opaque, as that will draw attention from the foreground and the middle ground.

5. This is where I begin to add detail as well as tweak the lighting. For this I use a fog brush colored a light orange. The opacity has to be set very very low, around 20% or it's too over powering. I just dab it on wherever sunlight would naturally occur.

6. Adding some foliage and general cleaning up of little details left over from the rough sketch.
